This car was first introduced in 1964 as a purely sports fastback coupe with body made of fiberglass to make it light weight, yet very durable. This and very powerful engine gave this car an extremely good performance. Today it’s extremely rare, but still can be found for sale sometimes, so if you’re a real collector, you should look for a used TVR Griffith 200.
There’s no official data about the number of vehicles produced, but according to the most recent reports total number of produced units is 181( and definitely not more than 200 ). The used TVR Griffith 200 as a sports car has a FR layout( front engine, rear wheel drive )and in a basic form is equipped with a 4, 7 litre V8 engine producing 195 horsepower, which accelerates the car from 0-62 mph( 0-100 km/h )in 4, 9 seconds. There is however some units with significantly more powerful 4, 7 litre V8 powerplant producing 271 horsepower – this one accelerates the used TVR Griffith 200 from 0-62 mph in just 3, 9 seconds, which is amazing performance even today, not to mention almost fifty years ago. Transmission of a used TVR Griffith 200 is a four speed manual gearbox to ensure that the maximum power will be used to accelerate this monster.
